What makes a woman deserving of a relationship?

I am currently not employed, in school, but I really love this guy. He said he has a-lot of goals and is financially and professional not ready at the moment to put focus on a relationship. I was wondering if it is too much for me to ask considering that I am working on my goals to, if I deserve to have a guy who calls me or tells me he loves me irregardless of my financial or social status. Is it necessary to define a relationship between too people? Am I really just being naive to expect someone who has slept with me would make me their girlfriend and call to say I love you? Or am I just not ready for a relationship myself?
