Question about a gallbladder surgery?

My mom, tomorrow is going to have a surgery, the doctors are going to take out the entire gallbladder. She only has four 2mm stones, we are using Kaiser Permanente, however, why is it neccessary to take out the entire gallbladder instead of the stones? Kaiser hasn't given any information to my mom, she does not speak english.
