I am a 49 year old women who is putting on weight at an alarming rate?

nothing medically has changed in the last six months, but i am waiting on a gallbladder removal operation, being very ill, and very sick at least twice a week. pain killers make no difference....why am i putting on weight,can anyone help me with this question
